Ravens Fall to Trojans in DVL Championship Game PDF Print E-mail

The ACES Ravens lost to the Troy Trojans in the DVL Championship Game on Saturday in Leavenworth. The Ravens fell 27-40, for their first league loss, in the last game of the season. Troy held ACES to its lowest score all season long. ACES trailed by only 1 point at the half, before the Trojans went on a big run in the 3rd quarter. The Ravens battled back within 6 points with 2:15 left in the game, but the Trojans hit free throws down the stretch to seal the Ravens fate. ACES had beaten Troy 38-23 back on January 7th, in the Ravens home opener. 

Noah Baniewicz scored 8 points to lead the Ravens in scoring. Kevin Lykins added 8 points and 5 rebounds; and Nick Caudle had 6 points and 5 rebounds. Luke Ervin chipped in 5 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. Matthew Schrick had 2 steals for the Ravens.

 

Earlier in the day on Saturday, the Ravens defeated Doniphan West in their semifinal game. ACES started slow, but ultimately rolled to a 46-31 win over the Mustangs. ACES defeated Doniphan West this year in regular season play on February 7th.

Nick Caudle led the Ravens with 23 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists. Matthew Schrick greatly helped the Ravens with his 10 points and 4 steals. Kevin Lykins added 6 points and 2 rebounds, while Luke Ervin scored a basket for ACES.

The Ravens concluded the season with a 14-2 record (14-1 in the DVL). ACES was the regular season DVL Champions at 12-0, and were presented with gold medals after the game for that honor. The Raven basketball players were also awarded a plaque and silver medals for their 2nd place finish in the DVL tournament. ACES Coach, Derek Franklin, led the Ravens through a very successful season of Raven basketball. Congratulations to all the Raven basketball players for an exciting season at ACES! Great season, Ravens!!  

 

 
Ravens Defeat Dragons in DVL Quarterfinal PDF Print E-mail

The ACES Ravens won their opening game in the Delaware Valley League tournament on Tuesday night, as ACES rolled past the Valley Falls Dragons. The top-seeded Ravens defeated the 8th-seeded Dragons with a score of 44-12. ACES held Valley Falls scoreless until the 3rd quarter, as the Ravens enjoyed a 24-0 halftime lead. ACES concluded their season on their home court in the quarterfinal game, finishing the season undefeated at home. ACES is now 13-1 (13-0 in the DVL).  

Nick Caudle had 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists to lead the Ravens. Luke Ervin and Kevin Lykins each scored 8 points and grabbed 3 rebounds. Noah Baniewicz added 4 points for the Ravens, as well as 2 rebounds and an assist. Matthew Schrick and Cal Riedley each connected on 3 pointers. Nolan DuLac and Cole Harris also scored baskets for the Ravens.

The Ravens will take on Doniphan West in the DVL semi-final game on Saturday. All semi-final games the were scheduled for Thursday night have been postponed until Saturday due to the incoming winter weather. ACES will play both their semi-final and final games at Immaculata High School on Saturday. The times for both of these games is TBA. Go Ravens!

 

 
Ravens Beat JCN on 8th Grade Night & Capture DVL Regular Season Title at 12-0 PDF Print E-mail

The Ravens concluded the regular season in dominating fashion, beating the JCN Chargers 43-15. Tonight's win brings ACES record to a perfect 12-0 in the league, as the team finishes as the DVL regular season champions. ACES will have the #1 seed in the DVL Tournament, which begins next Monday night.

Nick Caudle led the Ravens with 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals. Kevin Lykins and Noah Baniewicz each contributed 8 points in the Raven win. Luke Ervin added 6 points and 5 rebounds. Matthew Schrick scored 4 points and had 2 steals for ACES.

In the B Game, the Ravens ended the season on top. ACES defeated JCN 32-10. Nathan Peltzer led the Ravens with 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists. Isaac Henderson posted 6 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. Colten Kocour and Cole Harris each added 4 points for the Ravens, and Nolan DuLac scored a basket.

In the final C Game of the season, ACES fell to the Chargers 10-16. Dawson Eylar led the Ravens with 6 points and 5 rebounds. Ethan Hale and Sean Mason also scored for ACES.

Eight Ravens celebrated their last basketball season at ACES during an 8th Grade Night recognition presentation. Noah Baniewicz, Nick Caudle, Nolan DuLac, Luke Ervin, Ethan Hale, Kevin Lykins, Isaac McCracken, and Cal Riedley played hard in their final home game, and demonstrated their hard work and dedication as student leaders of the successful ACES basketball team this season.  

The 12-1 (12-0 in the DVL) Ravens will take on the winner of the game between #8 and #9 seeds in the DVL tournament, who will play in a pig-tail game next Monday night. ACES will then host a DVL Quarterfinal Game on Tuesday, February 19. The quarterfinal game will tip at 5:00 PM in the ACES Gym. Ravens Grab Another Win at Doniphan West PDF Print E-mail

The Ravens won their third straight game, and improved to 11-0 in the Delaware Valley League, as ACES posted a 45-29 victory over the Mustangs at Doniphan West. ACES has just one game remaining in regular season play, before heading into the league tournament later in February.

Nick Caudle paced the Ravens with 19 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Kevin Lykins added 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots. Luke Ervin and Matthew Schrick were key contributors, as they each scored 7 points for the Ravens. Noah Baniewicz and Isaac McCracken were the other Raven scorers in the game, with a basket each. 

The Ravens fell in the B Game, losing to the Mustangs 17-25. Isaac Henderson led the Ravens with 7 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals. Matthew Schrick, Sean Mason, and Nathan Peltzer scored baskets for the Ravens. Mason and Peltzer combined for 5 Raven rebounds. Cole Harris and Isaac McCracken added free throws for ACES.

The C Game was a 1/2 Game once again, and the Ravens were defeated by Doniphan West. The final score was 6-10. Brock Becker led ACES with 4 points. Mason DeMeritt scored the other Raven basket. Dawson Eylar grabbed 3 rebounds, and had 2 steals to help the Ravens.

ACES will host JCN on Monday, February 11, in the final regular season game. ACES will celebrate the 8th grade basketball players at 8th Grade Night on Monday. Come support the Raven 8th graders in their last home game! Games will tip at 4:30 PM. Go Ravens!  

 

 

 
Ravens Defeat Raiders in DVL Catholic School Match-Up PDF Print E-mail

The ACES Ravens swept the Xavier Raiders on Monday night at home in the battle between the two Catholic schools in the Delaware Valley League. The Ravens won 51-26. ACES had a somewhat sloppy start, with ACES holding a 13-7 lead after the 1st quarter. ACES then stepped up for the remainder of the game, and held the Raiders to only one basket in the 3rd quarter.

The Ravens were led by Nick Caudle, who scored 19 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and totaled 4 assists. Luke Ervin finished with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Kevin Lykins scored 12 points, and was a perfect 6/6 from the free throw line. Matthew Schrick and Noah Baniewicz each added a basket for the Ravens.

ACES prevailed in the B Game as well, as they shut down the Raiders 28-10. Cole Harris led the Ravens with 11 points. Nathan Peltzer scored 6 points and grabbed a team-high 6 rebounds. Isaac Henderson scored a 3-pointer and finished with 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Cal Riedley also scored in the Raven win. 

The C Game was a 1/2 game because of the low number of players on both teams. ACES defeated Xavier 10-8, after trailing 6-8 at the end of the 1st quarter. Mason DeMeritt led the Ravens with 4 points and 2 rebounds. Nathan Peltzer scored 4 points for ACES, while Brock Becker added a basket for the Ravens.

ACES plays at Doniphan West on Thursday, February 7th, at 4:30 PM. The Ravens then return home next Monday, February 11th, to host JCN on 8th Grade Night. Go Ravens!

 
Ravens Rebound to Beat Bears in Oskaloosa PDF Print E-mail

The ACES Ravens rebounded after suffering their first loss of the season earlier in the week. The Ravens posted a 47-28 victory at Oskaloosa on Thursday night. ACES started out strong, ending the 1st Quarter with a 23-5 lead. The Ravens kept up their intensity, while rotating several players into the lineup during the game. ACES is now 9-1, and 9-0 in the Delaware Valley League standings.

Nick Caudle's big game once again led the Ravens. Caudle posted a double-double for the second game in a row, scoring 21 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. He also totaled 5 steals and 2 blocks. Kevin Lykins added 10 points and 5 rebounds. Matthew Schrick and Luke Ervin scored 4 points for the Ravens, and Noah Baniewicz added a basket. 

The Ravens also prevailed in the B Game, winning 36-19. Nathan Peltzer led the Ravens with 8 points. Colten Kocour added 7 points for ACES, and Matthew Schrick helped with his 6 points. Other Raven scorers included Cal Riedley, Nolan DuLac, Isaac Henderson, Mason DeMeritt, and Cole Harris. 

In the C Game, ACES won 31-8. Ethan Hale led the Ravens with 8 points, and Isaac Henderson contributed 5 points. Cal Riedley and Nathan Peltzer each scored 4 points in the Raven win, while Sean Mason, Dawson Eylar, and Cole Harris also scored for the Ravens.

ACES hosts Xavier on Monday night, February 4. Games begin at 4:30 PM. Come support the Ravens, and cheer them on to another victory! Go Ravens!

 

 
Ravens Fall at AMS for First Loss of Season PDF Print E-mail

ACES fell to Atchison Middle School on Tuesday night in the annual non-conference game between the schools. ACES is now 8-1 (8-0 in the DVL). The Ravens lost to the Braves 27-36. ACES got behind early in the game, and trailed 10-21 at halftime. However, the Ravens battled back to within 4 points early in the 4th quarter. The Braves hit their free throws at the end of the game to pull away from the Ravens.

The Ravens were led by Nick Caudle, who posted his first double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Kevin Lykins added 7 points and 3 rebounds, and Luke Ervin finished with 4 points and 2 rebounds. The Ravens struggled from the free throw line, making only 7 of 17.

ACES was victorious in the B Game, winning 35-28. Cole Harris led the Ravens with 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Matthew Schrick scored 14 points for ACES to lead the Ravens in scoring. Cal Riedley and Colten Kocour also scored in the game. 

ACES lost a heartbreaker to AMS in the C Game, 21-22. Isaac Henderson scored 5 points for the Ravens, while Sean Mason, Dawson Eylar, and Mason Demerrit all added 4 points for ACES. Cal Riedley also scored a basket in the C game. 

The Ravens will travel to Oskaloosa on Thursday, January 31, to take on the Bears. Games begin at 4:30 PM, and will be played B, C, A. Go Ravens!   

 
Ravens Post Win Over ACCJHS and Improve to 8-0 PDF Print E-mail

The Ravens started off their week with a big win over ACCJHS on Monday night to improve to 8-0 in the Delaware Valley League. ACES defeated the Tigers 37-15 to kick off Catholic Schools Week with a victory in front of a spirited home crowd. 

Nick Caudle totaled 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 steals in leading the Ravens. Luke Ervin helped the Ravens with his 6 points and 7 rebounds, while Kevin Lykins added 6 points and 3 rebounds. Noah Baniewicz added 4 points, Matthew Schrick had 2, and Colten Kocour hit a 3-pointer to round out the Raven scoring.

ACES also won the B Game, as the Ravens beat the Tigers 35-13. The Ravens were led by Nathan Peltzer, who posted 8 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals. Sean Mason added 7 points; Cole Harris and Isaac McCracken both had 5 points; and Cal Riedley had 4 points. Colten Kocour and Isaac Henderson each hit a 3-pointer for the Ravens. Cole Harris led the Ravens in rebounds with 6, Isaac McCracken added 5 rebounds, and Coten Kocour and Nathan Peltzer each had 4 boards in the victory.

The Ravens played well in the second half, after a 13-14 halftime deficit to defeat the Tigers 26-21. Dawson Eylar led the Ravens with 6 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 steals. Mason DeMerrit finished with 6 points and 8 rebounds. Nathan Peltzer added 4 points and 2 rebounds. Other Raven scorers were Cal Riedley, Sean Mason, Cole Harris, and Isaac McCracken.

ACES takes on their in-town rival, Atchison Middle School, on Tuesday, January 29th. The games will tip at 4:15 PM at AMS. Please note the order of play will be C, B, A. Go Ravens!!

  

 
Ravens Breeze Past Bulldogs at McLouth PDF Print E-mail

The ACES Ravens improved their perfect record to 7-0, as they breezed past the McLouth Bulldogs 41-4. The Ravens held the Bulldogs scoreless until 26 seconds remained in the 3rd quarter. ACES had a 31-0 halftime lead.

Kevin Lykins had 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists for the Ravens. Nick Caudle added 12 points, including 6 points from stolen baskets. Caudle also added 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals. Luke Ervin helped the Ravens with his 4 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists. Matthew Schrick totaled 4 points, while Noah Baniewicz, Nolan DuLac, Isaac Henderson, Isaac McCracken, and Nathan Peltzer each scored a basket in the big Raven win. 

ACES also prevailed in the B game, defeating McLouth 36-19. Nathan Peltzer led the Ravens with a season-high 14 points, and 4 steals. Cal Riedley finished with 7 points; Nolan DuLac added 4 points and 3 rebounds; Isaac Henderson had 4 points, 3 steals, and 2 assists; and Cole Harris scored a basket in the win. Colten Kocour also scored a basket, while leading the Ravens with 7 assists.

The Raven C team battled back from a 8-10 deficit at the half to beat the Bulldogs 15-12. Blake Mispagel hit a 3-pointer to start off the Ravens. Sean Mason finished with 4 points, including a free throw at the end of the game, to ensure victory for ACES. Nolan DuLac, Cole Harris, and Ethan Hale were the other Raven scorers in the game. 

ACES Basketball has a big week next week, playing 3 games. The Ravens will host ACCJHS-Effingham on Monday, January 28. Games will tip at 4:30 PM in the ACES gym. ACES will then play at Atchison Middle School on Tuesday, January 29, as the Ravens take on their in-town rival at 4:15 PM. ACES then travels to Oskaloosa on Thursday, January 31, to finish the busy week of basketball. Ravens Survive Close Game to Defeat the Cobras PDF Print E-mail

The ACES Ravens defeated the Jackson Heights Cobras 38-30 on Monday night at home, to win their closest game of the season. The Ravens survived a Cobra comeback attempt in the 4th quarter by hitting free throws down the stretch. ACES trailed 20-22 at halftime, after Jackson Heights sank six 3-pointers in the first half. The win improves the Ravens to a perfect 6-0 record in the Delaware Valley League.

Nick Caudle led the Ravens in scoring with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Kevin Lykins added 12 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block. Luke Ervin contributed 6 points, and Noah Baniewicz had 4 points for the Ravens.

The B Game was all about the Ravens, as ACES jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the 1st quarter. Seven different Ravens scored on their way to a 37-6 rout of the Cobras. The Ravens were led by Cal Riedley's 9 points, including a 3-pointer. Issac Henderson scored 6 points, and grabbed 6 rebounds. Nathan Peltzer also had 6 points for the Ravens, while Nolan DuLac added 4 points and 5 rebounds. Isaac McCracken led the Ravens in rebounding with 7 boards, and scored 2 points. Colten Kocour had a team-high 6 assists, and 4 points.

The C Game was an exciting one, right down to the final buzzer. The Ravens held on to a narrow lead to post a 19-18 win. After leading 12-7 at halftime, the Ravens let the Cobras tie the game at 18 in the 4th quarter. Sean Mason sank a free throw with under a minute remaining to put the Ravens ahead, and ultimately win the game. Mason DeMerrit, Ethan Hale, and Dawson Eylar each scored 4 points. Sean Mason and Blake Mispagel also scored for ACES. Eylar led the Ravens with 3 rebounds.

The Ravens travel to McLouth on Thursday, January 24. The game is at 5:00 PM, with all three teams playing in B, C, A order. Go Ravens!
