ACES 7th Graders Win Silver Medals at DVL Championship Meet, and 8th Graders Take 4th Place in DVL PDF Print E-mail

The ACES Knowledge Bowl team had a great end to their season at the Delaware Valley League Meet. Both the ACES 7th and 8th Grade teams won their pools to advance to the semifinal rounds. ACES 7th Graders captured silver medals by taking 2nd place in the Delaware Valley League. The Raven 8th Graders finished in 4th place.

The 7th Grade team faced Riverside and Valley Falls in pool play. The Ravens defeated Riverside 40-30, and then breezed past Valley Falls 80-30. With those 2 wins, ACES won their pool and advanced to the semifinal match against McLouth. The Ravens made things exciting as the match was tied 60-60 after the final question. Haylie Folsom sent the Ravens to the championship match with her correct answer to the extra question. The Ravens defeated the Bulldogs 70-60 to advance to the final. In the championship match, ACES faced JCN. While the Ravens played a tough round, they ultimately fell to the Chargers 70-30. In the consolation match, ACCJHS defeated McLouth. The loss in the championship match earned the Ravens 2nd place in the league and the students were awarded with DVL silver medals. Mason DeMeritt led the Ravens in the DVL meet with 80 points. Lauren Kocour scored 40 points, while Haylie Folsom and Isaac Henderson added 30 points each. Blake Mispagel scored 20 points for the Ravens by correctly answering two math questions. Dawson Eylar and Maria Hrenchir also answered questions correctly to score 10 points each for ACES. Congratulations to all the ACES 7th Graders for a great Knowledge Bowl season.

In the 8th Grade division, ACES competed against McLouth and Pleasant Ridge in their pool play rounds. ACES defeated Pleasant Ridge 100-10. The Ravens then played a solid game against McLouth, as they hung on for a 55-50 win. At one point in the match, ACES was down 0-40, and then battled back to win. ACES and McLouth both answered the last question of the round incorrectly to allow the Ravens to win and advance to the semifinal match. In the semifinals, ACES faced Xavier, where ACES was defeated 110-20. The Ravens then played in the consolation match against Jackson Heights. ACES lost to Jackson Heights 60-40 to give the Ravens 4th place in the DVL. Sterling Falk and Annie Hrenchir led the Ravens in scoring during the DVL Championship meet, as they each scored 70 points. Delaney Elias added 30 points, and Nolan DuLac scored 20 points for ACES. Lexi Griffin and Eli Pachot each added 10 more points. Congratulations to all the 8th Graders for playing an outstanding Knowledge Bowl season at ACES.

 
ACES Competes Well at Valley Falls PDF Print E-mail

ACES concluded the regular season with several more great scores and competitive rounds of Knowledge Bowl at Valley Falls on Thursday night. The Raven 8th Grade team was victorious against Troy, McLouth, and Doniphan West. Their only loss of the night came against Valley Falls. In the 7th Grade Division, ACES won against Valley Falls, but lost to McLouth,Troy, and Doniphan West.

In the 8th Grade Meet, Sterling Falk led the Ravens with 70 points. Annie Hrenchir was also a key contributer with her 65 points. Delaney Elias added 45 points, Eli Panchot scored 40 points, and Nolan DuLac scored 10 points.

The 7th Graders also experienced some success at Valley Falls. Blake Mispagel led the Ravens with 35 points. Haylie Folsom and Maria Hrenchir scored 30 points each to greatly help the Ravens. Dawson Eylar scored 25 points for the Ravens, and Haley Miller scored 10 points.

 

The Ravens will end the season at ACCMS, as they compete in the DVL League Championships on Monday, March 11, beginning at 4:00 PM. Go Ravens!

 

 
ACES Dominates at Doniphan West and Finishes the Meet Undefeated PDF Print E-mail

The ACES Ravens Knowledge Bowl team was nearly perfect on Tuesday night, with both the 7th and 8th grade Knowledge Bowl teams finishing undefeated at 3-0. ACES won matches against Riverside, McLouth, and Doniphan West.

Raven Knowledge Bowl Competitors played 3 very strong rounds. Nolan DuLac and Sterling Falk led the Ravens with 40 points each for the 8th Grade Team. Delaney Elias totaled 35 points. Annie Hrenchir added 30 points, while Eli Panchot contributed 20 points.

In the 7th Grade Division, several Ravens were on the board to help ACES to victory. Mason DeMeritt led the way with 80 points. Maria Hrenchir added 40, Blake Mispagel had 30, Colten Kocour finished with 20, and Heather Ronnebaum rounded out the Raven scoing with 10 points.  
ACES finishes the regular season at Valley Falls on Thursday night, March 7th. The DVL Knowledge Bowl meet will occur on Monday, March 11 at ACCMS.

 
Ravens Take On Chargers, Cyclones, and Trojans in Troy PDF Print E-mail

The ACES Knowledge Bowl team competed at Troy on Monday night, March 4th. The 8th Grade Team defeated Riverside and Troy, but fell to JCN. In the 7th Grade Division, the Ravens beat Riverside before falling to Troy and JCN.

The Raven Knowledge Bowl team started off their season at home on Thursday, February 28. ACES hosted Oskaloosa, Pleasant Ridge, Riverside, and Troy in the 5-team pool play meet.

The ACES 8th Grade Team went 4-0 on the evening to begin the season undefeated. Annie Hrenchir led the Ravens with 130 points. Sterling Falk added 80 points, Eli Panchot scored 30 points, and Nolan DuLac scored 10 points.

The ACES 7th Grade Team finished 1-3 in their opening meet. The Ravens fell to Oskaloosa, Pleasant Ridge, and Troy before defeating Riverside. Lauren Kocour was the leading scorer for the Ravens with 40 points. Maria Hrenchir contributed 35 points. Isaac Henderson and Blake Mispagel each finished with 10 points.

 

The Ravens have a busy week to begin the month of March, competing at Troy on Monday, Doniphan West on Tuesday, and Valley Falls on Thursday. ACES will then participate in the DVL Knowledge Bowl Championships at ACCMS on Monday, March 11. Go Ravens!!
